Labor Day!

Labor Day – a day supposedly set aside for honoring the millions of people who have fought for labor unions and trades throughout the country. Also, the end of summer, the real beginning of NFL Football and time to start thinking about the Holidays.

Pizza! Pizza!

I have to tell you – I was so excited when I got my first bag of Watkins pizza crust mix (whole wheat of course!) It was so easy to make – add water, knead, let rise. I went out and picked banana peppers, green pepper, red pepper, fresh basil and some roma tomatoes. I sliced all the peppers so thin, did a chiffonade on the basil and did rounds of roma. The crust spread out on my pizza stone so nice. Then, the Watkins garlic grapeseed oil – just a thin layer – I put all of the veggies on, sprinkled a little freshly grated asiago cheese and some 2% shredded mozzarella – :15 minutes later I had a pizza you would’ve paid $25 for at Pizza Fusion!!! Unbelieveable!

I can’t tell you how glad I am that Watkins is here for us all. Gourmet, affordable and organic. It’s so important to feed your body the fuel it needs.

Have I told you lately that I’ve lost 40 lbs? If that’s not incentive – what is? Follow me people! To good health!

Be Your Own Boss!

If you were your own Boss, would you expect a lot from your employees? I mean, think about it. If you controlled your own destiny, would you (the Boss) sit back and say – take the day off, you deserve it! Well, of course you do deserve it, but people who run their own companies expect a lot from their employees and they should! When you run your own company – you have to be just as tough on yourself – you have to expect results! I’m not the best boss of me. I need to work harder. I have to find the right words to inspire you to want to achieve your dreams! Watkins can make that happen for you! Trust me! I’m a boss! Okay, not the best reason – but think about this – Watkins has been around since 1868, providing quality spices, flavorings, oils, home remedies – you name it! They have an excellent product, who wouldn’t want to sell that? The best thing about it is – you don’t really have to sell it – you buy it, you inspire others to buy it, you use it, you want others to use it – people love this stuff! A lot of times, just the name evokes memories of a long gone era – gives you the feeling of security. Makes you want to cook! And clean! Okay, maybe not clean – but it makes you realize that providing the safest home for your family is important. It’s also really great to realize that while you’re providing eco-friendly products, promoting health, supporting overall well-being – you’re earning money! It’s a win-win-win-win situation. Christmas in July

One of my most favorite things is waiting for my Watkins order to come. I tear into it. Somehow the pleasure of just getting a package in the mail is a real thrill. I truly love opening that box and physically seeing each new thing. I’m making a point of ordering new and different things every month just to learn and explore. I’ve never been disappointed! I keep reordering the BBQ sauce! I’m a BBQ lover and that sauce is fan-tastic! Every spice is so pure, so fresh, so natural. You know – I am a big believer in healthy cooking and to take those seasonings and sprinkle them on fresh vegetables and steam them – yum!

Every month new items are featured at discounted prices and in this economy, any discount is welcome. I try to get as many as I can, just so I can pass on my findings to you. I love to talk Watkins too! This summer as we have people over to enjoy the pool and great conversations, I can’t wait to let everyone know about the dips they’re eating, the lemon mousse they’re raving about, the lemony cream that keeps my skin so moist. It’s a joy!

I hope you feel my enthusiasm and realize that the Watkins way of life is not only a way to enjoy healthy, natural products, but it’s a way to share secrets to the good life with your friends. Of course having the extra dollars in my pocket from sales is a bonus!

All Purpose – What does that mean?

First of all, who wouldn’t want to be categorized as “all-purpose” – you would be all things to all people. Well, since I’m a Mom – I think I’m “all-purpose”.

Watkins has an All Purpose cleaner – part of their Living Naturally line, it’s made with: Purified Water; Coconut-based surfactant; Natural Lavendar; and Rosemary Oil. That’s it! Not tested on animals, no harsh chemicals – and it smells so good. I’ve been known to clean a lot more frequently now that I have this. It’s true…

In comparison, I pulled up a data sheet on Formula 409 (what I used to use) and here is the second ingredient: ETHYLENE OXIDE (SUSPECTED 2A HUMAN CARCINOGEN BY IARC; CONFIRMED ANIMAL CARINOGEN BY IARC & NTP) — What?!? Human Carcinogen? Animal Carcinogen? What would our dog Achilles think of this? Now I don’t know who IARC is, but if they suspect it’s bad – it probably is. The data sheet also explains that safety goggles and proper ventilation should be maintained during use. Now, I’ve been known to do a few weird things – but if my family came home and I had goggles on while cleaning, they might commit me…

Watkins All Purpose Cleaner comes in different scents: Aloe & Green Tea; Lemon; Orange Citrus; and Lavender! It’s very reasonably priced – and it also comes in a concentrate for easy refill!

I’m beginning to think that All Purpose should mean that you can use it for anything and never be worried about the health and safety of your family and your pets. Oh – and that it should smell good too! Well, I have to go clean – I want to use up the lavender so I can get the Aloe & Green Tea!!!

I constantly worry about eating right. Our bodies are complex machines that run on fuel. Like any machine, the purer the fuel – the better the performance. Buying organic, might be more expensive out of the pocket – but, boy does it make life easier in the long run. Have you heard the expression “clean eating?” Fresh flavors, starting with whole products – nothing from a package. It’s what I strive for.
