Okay, I live in Pittsburgh – always have. I’ve experienced the blizzard of ‘77, the blizzard of ‘93 – and now the 2010 Armageddon. We had 23″ last week and now another 10″. Why am I surprised? It’s the northeast, it’s winter – there will be snow!

We are supremely lucky – haven’t lost power, internet or satellite, we’re all home safe and snug with plenty of food & water, many of our neighbors aren’t as lucky.

One thing we didn’t have, don’t laugh – ice cream!!! Luckily, the snow provided us with the perfect base for making something special – Snow Ice Cream!!! I actually looked it up online for a recipe. Here goes:

Take 1 full bowl of fresh snow (8 Cups) add one can of sweetened condensed milk and 1T Watkins Vanilla. Mix and serve! You can’t believe how good this tastes – it’s better than ice cream. My family went crazy and I’ve had to make batch after batch. Okay, I didn’t know how many cans of sweetened condensed milk I had! Abandoned Christmas cookie recipes for sure! I made a variation last night – 1T Watkins Hazelnut flavoring. It was even better!

I think what makes this really good is the quality of the flavorings – Watkins has the absolute best, because they use the absolute best. When life gives you snow – make ice cream! Click on the “Buy Watkins” link to your right – I’m associate 383996, happy eating!

Remember that character from Billy Madison, Miss Lippy? I loved that scene where all the little kids are taking a nap and Miss Lippy is eating paste… too funny! Anyway – I’m not a lipstick person. I never have been. I have pretty thin lips and when I put it on – it just looks so foreign. Thick, pasty – you get it on your teeth, it stains mugs, glasses – I end up with it everywhere!! Well, when we got our Seasonal Assortment last month, there was a “Lip Tint Trio” included, perfect for gift giving! I thought, “there’s a great gift for my niece!” What is really nice about it is there are three shades, now usually if I have to – I’m attracted to the peaches, browns – warm colors.

Well, I couldn’t resist – I broke open the pack. Took the lid off “Berry Charming“. Gave it a sniff. Mmmm. Nice. Okay, I’ll try it, I’ve opened the pack – taken off the lid – can’t possibly give it as a gift now. That stuff is great! There’s a nice touch of mint that makes your lips tingle! And, it’s almost transparent – just a touch of color. Not garish, or thick – really nice.

Okay, it’s all mine now – I’ve used all three colors and I’m not giving this set to anyone. I will however, buy new sets for gifts. It’s the perfect stocking stuffer, it’s all natural – no toxins, no chemicals and affordable – three full tubes for $ 12.99, that’s not even one tube at Macy’s! Check it out for yourself – click the “Buy Watkins” link at the right, we’re associate #383996. Oh, and if you want to shop at 25% discount – click on the “Sell Watkins” link at the right and join the club!

I have to tell you – I was so excited when I got my first bag of Watkins pizza crust mix (whole wheat of course!) It was so easy to make – add water, knead, let rise. I went out and picked banana peppers, green pepper, red pepper, fresh basil and some roma tomatoes. I sliced all the peppers so thin, did a chiffonade on the basil and did rounds of roma. The crust spread out on my pizza stone so nice. Then, the Watkins garlic grapeseed oil – just a thin layer – I put all of the veggies on, sprinkled a little freshly grated asiago cheese and some 2% shredded mozzarella – :15 minutes later I had a pizza you would’ve paid $25 for at Pizza Fusion!!! Unbelieveable!

I can’t tell you how glad I am that Watkins is here for us all. Gourmet, affordable and organic. It’s so important to feed your body the fuel it needs.

Have I told you lately that I’ve lost 40 lbs? If that’s not incentive – what is? Follow me people! To good health!
