Remember that character from Billy Madison, Miss Lippy? I loved that scene where all the little kids are taking a nap and Miss Lippy is eating paste… too funny! Anyway – I’m not a lipstick person. I never have been. I have pretty thin lips and when I put it on – it just looks so foreign. Thick, pasty – you get it on your teeth, it stains mugs, glasses – I end up with it everywhere!! Well, when we got our Seasonal Assortment last month, there was a “Lip Tint Trio” included, perfect for gift giving! I thought, “there’s a great gift for my niece!” What is really nice about it is there are three shades, now usually if I have to – I’m attracted to the peaches, browns – warm colors.

Well, I know I was going to tell you about the 2009 Seasonal Assortment – but first I must tell you what happened last night. I was weeding the flower beds – beds I’ve had for a very long time, when one stubborn weed just wouldn’t come out. I yanked, yanked, yanked – then an overwhelming buzz came over me. Ouch! Ouch! I was being stung by what felt like a million bees! I ran towards the house screaming, “help me, help me” – my poor husband came flying out of the house – I’m batting at my head, stamping my feet – yelling, “get the hose, please – hose me off!” Well, my husband, who’s had cancer and only has one lung moved like the wind and was hosing me off – I’m still screaming, ripping off my clothes (not necessarily a good thing) and trying to get the bees out of my hair – when I hear my husband going into a breathing attack! Horrible! I’m upside-down under a stream of water telling my husband to breathe through his nose, trying to get his breathing under control, finally – it’s working. What a mess we are! Anyway – I’m on fire – crying my eyes out – the worst pain I’ve ever felt (I’ve had three sons all by natural childbirth too!) I can’t take it!!! I found 7 stings on my body and one in my head. Okay, I’m becoming calm – but those stings were like jabbing fire! My husband, the man who saved my life, says “put this on it” – this was Watkins Petro-Carbon Salve. I’m like, “what? I’m dying here” he said, “trust me.” How can I not trust the man who saved my life? I open the tin, get some of that grease on my finger and gently dab it on the spots. Wait, what just happened? It’s going away?!? I’m telling you, swear to God – the pain went away. I was amazed. Totally. I still have some swelling but that pain is gone. One of my most favorite things is waiting for my Watkins order to come. I tear into it. Somehow the pleasure of just getting a package in the mail is a real thrill. I truly love opening that box and physically seeing each new thing. I’m making a point of ordering new and different things every month just to learn and explore. I’ve never been disappointed! I keep reordering the BBQ sauce! I’m a BBQ lover and that sauce is fan-tastic! Every spice is so pure, so fresh, so natural. You know – I am a big believer in healthy cooking and to take those seasonings and sprinkle them on fresh vegetables and steam them – yum!

Every month new items are featured at discounted prices and in this economy, any discount is welcome. I try to get as many as I can, just so I can pass on my findings to you. I love to talk Watkins too! This summer as we have people over to enjoy the pool and great conversations, I can’t wait to let everyone know about the dips they’re eating, the lemon mousse they’re raving about, the lemony cream that keeps my skin so moist. It’s a joy!
