There will be Blood! No, I mean Snow!

Wednesday, February 10th, 2010 | Author: Barb

Okay, I live in Pittsburgh – always have. I’ve experienced the blizzard of ‘77, the blizzard of ‘93 – and now the 2010 Armageddon. We had 23″ last week and now another 10″. Why am I surprised? It’s the northeast, it’s winter – there will be snow!

We are supremely lucky – haven’t lost power, internet or satellite, we’re all home safe and snug with plenty of food & water, many of our neighbors aren’t as lucky.

One thing we didn’t have, don’t laugh – ice cream!!! Luckily, the snow provided us with the perfect base for making something special – Snow Ice Cream!!! I actually looked it up online for a recipe. Here goes:

Take 1 full bowl of fresh snow (8 Cups) add one can of sweetened condensed milk and 1T Watkins Vanilla. Mix and serve! You can’t believe how good this tastes – it’s better than ice cream. My family went crazy and I’ve had to make batch after batch. Okay, I didn’t know how many cans of sweetened condensed milk I had! Abandoned Christmas cookie recipes for sure! I made a variation last night – 1T Watkins Hazelnut flavoring. It was even better!

I think what makes this really good is the quality of the flavorings – Watkins has the absolute best, because they use the absolute best. When life gives you snow – make ice cream! Click on the “Buy Watkins” link to your right – I’m associate 383996, happy eating!

I’ve lost 41 pounds – that’s right 41 LBS! You can do it – choose health. When you look at your food choices – pick the healthy ones – go organic. 6 Million Kids lack Vitamin D!

Thursday, November 12th, 2009 | Author: Barb

Remember how much milk we drank when we were kids? Now they drink soda! Yuck. This article just came across the Watkins hotline. I’d like to share it with you.

An article in the Health Day News (10/26/2009) states that a new study finds that over 6 million American children are getting too little of vitamin D. “There are a lot of studies demonstrating associations between low levels of vitamin D and a laundry list of poor health outcomes,” noted lead researcher Dr. Jonathan Mansbach, an assistant professor of pediatrics at Harvard Medical School and a pediatrician at Children’s Hospital Boston.

Make sure your child has enough vitamin D. Watkins Children’s Chewable contains 400 to 200 IU of this essential vitamin. Along with giving children’s bodies vitamin D, it contains more vitamins and minerals than the leading brands. Not just in number, but in potency. Watkins Children’s Chewable is naturally sweetened with pure fruit sugar; contains no sucrose (table sugar) or aspartame, as found in leading brands.

Hear what other consumers have to say about Watkins Children’s Chewable:

“My 8-year old daughter used to have ear infections every month. Since using Watkins Children’s Chewables, she no longer has ear infections and has missed no days of school from illness. We use many of Watkins dietary supplements, and it’s the best health insurance investment we’ve ever made.”
Laurie Bird, Arizona

“My daughter had been struggling in school; she couldn’t focus and her grades were falling. Her teacher thought she had attention deficit disorder. I started giving her Watkins Children’s Chewable, and in two weeks her teacher said, ‘Whatever you are doing…keep it up.’ She finished the year with straight A’s.”
Tawny Dawson, Pennsylvania

Don’t let this happen to your kids. Purchase Watkins Children’s Chewable Vitamins from the link on the right. “Buy Watkins” – Protect your kids – Associate 383996

No Soup for You!

Thursday, November 12th, 2009 | Author: Barb

I love soup. It’s like a big warm hug on a cold day. I love that Seinfeld episode where the store won’t sell you soup unless you behave – Elaine just couldn’t get it… “No soup for you!”

We had a chilly weekend, it was later in the day (good soup needs a day!) and we were so wanting soup. Well, I pulled out my Watkins Baked Potato Soup Mix. Hmmm – this could be good! I had leftover browned potatoes and carrots from a roast, I added them, used fat free milk and it was a definite OMG moment! Quick, economical and good for you! Not to mention I got to use up veggies.

Stock up on it today, while you’re at it – get the Onion Soup too. You’ll think you’re in a French Bistro!

Click on the “Buy Watkins” link to the right. Associate 383996 – off for more soup!

Everyone wants to be Free!!!

Saturday, October 10th, 2009 | Author: Barb

It’s true. Free is another one of those words that really makes you think – what is “Free/Freedom?” For me, it’s that feeling you get when you know anything is possible. For me, freedom has a lot to do with success – I strive for  financial freedom.Taking a vacation, just picking up and going – seeing something in a store that I just can’t live without and being able to buy it. Knowing that I have the ability to do anything without restriction (as long as it’s legal of course!) whenever I want. So, how do you become free, achieve freedom? Well, if you’re like most of us you have to work at it – try your best every day to reach the apex of your career, to find that Zen moment when you can say, “I’ve arrived!”  I’m still working at it – but I know I can do it. I received a great email today from a couple of my upline leaders, Fran & Dave Daisey – I’d like to share it with you:

“To realize the fullest potential of Watkins/Summit Group you must continuously grow your knowledge, polish your attitudes, expand your view of the world and reinvent yourself.  This brings us to one over-riding conclusion.  For you to become highly successful in Watkins you must become fully responsible and totally accountable for your success.  You must become self-directed, self-motivated, self-starting and self-navigating.  You must develop an unyielding level of self-determination.  Believe that you can take charge of your destiny and you will change your life.  Recognize that the YOU who got you to this point in your life is not necessarily the YOU who will be capable of achieving your dreams.  You must create a different YOU for a different tomorrow!  This may require some serious personal re-inventing but YOU CAN DO IT!

Watkins can’t make you successful – only you can.  The Summit Group can give you all manner of support and guidance but it can’t make you successful.  You may have an excellent Sponsor but he/she will not make you successful.  You and only you can achieve success and create wealth in your life.  Achieving success and building wealth begins by creating a new YOU!”

I’m going to do it. YOU can too! The holidays are coming soon – I’m already hearing ads for Christmas, stores are already stocking and preparing for it. Watkins products align perfectly with the seasons – gifts, spices, treats, baking supplies – I’m going to make it happen and anyone who wants to join me – click on that “Sell Watkins” link to the right - WE can do it.

I’ll say it again, if you join Watkins during October, you’ll get all of the usual benefits of being an associate, and all the free training and support our team offers. Now you see it – now you don’t

I know I’ve mentioned before that my husband Bob is a cancer survivor. Well, one of the medications he was on for quite a while was Coumadin, a blood thinner. One of the side effects of this drug is that you bruise so easily, his arms are always covered with these horrible blood spots – sometimes quite large, and if you accidently hit them, he bleeds.

Well, he decided to try Watkins Petro-Carbon Salve on them to see if just dabbing it on helped. Guess what? They’re gone! It took about a week, but his arms look magnificent now! It’s really a great thing to see my husband’s confidence come back when wearing short sleeves – he doesn’t look like a big bruise anymore.

Watkins Petro Carbon Salve comes in two sizes, one for your bathroom and one you can keep in your pocket. Try the link on the right, “Buy Watkins” and give it a try, I’m glad I have it!

G-20

Saturday, September 19th, 2009 | Author: Barb

I don’t really know too much about the G20, however you look at it though, I live north of Pittsburgh where the G-20 will be next week. I know there are many good things and many bad things that come from this event. I only recently learned that 14 cities turned down the opportunity to host – but Pittsburgh jumped at it.

One of the events this year will be a dinner for the 20 world leaders and their spouses at Phipps Conservatory. Phipps Conservatory is one of the most green botanical gardens in the world. Their display of over 19 indoor and outdoor gardens and ecological environments is second to none. They take living naturally, and eco-friendly to a new level.

I had the privelege of volunteering there this past Friday, to wipe down railings, brick walls, signs, benches and light fixtures. You can’t imagine  the beauty in that place. I urge you to click the link on the right and at least visit their website.

I am so inspired by their pledge to sustainability and green living. Every product we used to clean with was green, and environmentally friendly. every utensil in the cafe, all the plates, glasses – compostable.

I can make a difference with Watkins, you can make a difference. Make the pledge for sustainability and buy products that will save our environment. It doesn’t matter what else the world leaders will talk about at the G20 – as long as well all buy into a greener way of life!

Miss Lippy!

Friday, September 11th, 2009 | Author: Barb

Remember that character from Billy Madison, Miss Lippy? I loved that scene where all the little kids are taking a nap and Miss Lippy is eating paste… too funny! Anyway – I’m not a lipstick person. I never have been. I have pretty thin lips and when I put it on – it just looks so foreign. Thick, pasty – you get it on your teeth, it stains mugs, glasses – I end up with it everywhere!! Well, when we got our Seasonal Assortment last month, there was a “Lip Tint Trio” included, perfect for gift giving! I thought, “there’s a great gift for my niece!” What is really nice about it is there are three shades, now usually if I have to – I’m attracted to the peaches, browns – warm colors.

Well, I couldn’t resist – I broke open the pack. Took the lid off “Berry Charming“. Gave it a sniff. Mmmm. Nice. Okay, I’ll try it, I’ve opened the pack – taken off the lid – can’t possibly give it as a gift now. That stuff is great! There’s a nice touch of mint that makes your lips tingle! And, it’s almost transparent – just a touch of color. Not garish, or thick – really nice.

Okay, it’s all mine now – I’ve used all three colors and I’m not giving this set to anyone. I will however, buy new sets for gifts. It’s the perfect stocking stuffer, it’s all natural – no toxins, no chemicals and affordable – three full tubes for $ 12.99, that’s not even one tube at Macy’s! Check it out for yourself – click the “Buy Watkins” link at the right, we’re associate #383996.
